I am a bit sad about Tony Hart

Tony Hart died today which probably everyone in Britain knows. If you didn't grow up in Britain you may not know who he is, but he was on a programme called Vision On which was brilliant and had all sorts on it, including Morph and Tony Hart doing pictures of for e.g. cranes out of something you shouldn't be able to make pictures with.

I only have two regrets: the first one is that I didn't apply to Oxford (pathetic I know, but it still annoys me), and the second is that I never sent a picture in to the Vision On Gallery. I drew a lot when I was a small child and I think Tony Hart had quite a lot to do with it (that and the encouragement of MonkeyParents and grandparents, teachers, aunts etc). Everyone is probably saying this but he really did help me draw and make things, and for that I am grateful.

I know this post is quite serious but I am quite sad about Tony Hart dying. Here is a bit of Vision On for you to watch.

On another note, I am not at all sure about bloody Yoffy on Fingerbobs. "Yoffy lifts a finger and scampi darts about; Yoffy bends another and a tortoise head peeps out". It is not right!!! Anyway, if Yoffy is making you feel sick, watch this bit of Hector's House (excellent and woefully under-rated, I think ), which you will know in France or French-Canada as La maison de toutou. It is great.

Lucky escape, Singe. My ego has never recovered from being called 'banal' repeatedly for three years by twitching trogolodytes in tweed. I get panic attacks all the way along the M40. I am an empty husk.

Sad about Tony Hart. His gurning brightly coloured replacement "Mr Maker" does not do it for me at ALL.

Tony Hart! That clip brings back my childhood just like that. Very sad that he has died though.

I too have regrets about Oxford, it's on my list of things that I will always wonder about, though if it was only going to be twitching troglodytes calling me banal, then perhaps I don't mind as much.....

Tony Hart, Johnny Morris and Val Singleton - practically sums up children's TV when I was a child. The Vision On Music can still sooth my soul and I agree with Jaywalker on the presenters. They all seem to be screaming, hysterical, hyperactive delinquents these days.

I've got a new hat which makes me look like the little flump. I like to walk around the park in time to the theme tune in my head. I think that might be exactly the right pace for walking across the slush-freeze-ice-snow you have on your pavements. I loved the flumps, in fact they made me take up skateboarding instead.
Do you remember nosey-bonk?

I'm very saddened by this news, but appreciate hearing it from someone that liked him too. Mr Hart was a big inspiration to me as a child.. not inspiring enough for me to submit artwork either but enough to give me some confidence to try different ways of making 'art'

brilliant man. absolutely brilliant. it's sad to lose him. he made SUCH a difference to so many children who were uncertain about whether they COULD draw, paint or sculpt. he's a huge loss to our rather aching world.
