Day 287: I Never Learn

Today I have:

1. Chopped a bird's eye chili, then scratched my eyelid;

2. Not stopped cycling when right hand road obscured by van that concealed another (moving) bicycle;

3. Turned on the BBC1 expecting Eastenders, when it is Wednesday;

4. Watched Crimewatch for more than three minutes;

5. Sat in the sun for over 20 minutes;

6. Tried on white linen trousers;

7. Tried to stir-fry a courgette;

8. Tried to buy meat in a supermarket;

9. Tried on silver ballet pumps;

10. Tried to put my hands flat on the floor without bending my knees.

Okay NWM, I've got you beat. Last week I BOUGHT a pair of silver ballet pumps - only they're called Dolly shoes now. I can tell you that. Mlle B just sighed tiredly when she saw them.

Courgettes: the answer is to slice them the long way.

All the others: no no no! Especially the white linen trousers.

Top tip re. courgettes. I bought the trousers (fantastic cut), but will be dyeing them indigo. This is the absolute truth. Make me look 20 lbs thinner and a foot taller. Bargain. PS I am going to buy the silver ballet pumps. They will look good with the trousers, which I must wear for a few months whilst my ankle stops being full of scar tissue. My legs are not 'good' anyway, but the bike accident made the right one positively deformed.

Oh dear, I'd forgotten your poor ankle! God. Well the trousers sound great - I'd also forgotten dye. Are you not already quite tall?

You should get the shoes. I've had several compliments on mine - maybe being eye-rolled at by a 13-year-old is a good sign!

Yay for well-cut trousers - they can make all the difference!

And I second the courgette tip about cutting them lengthways - you can also cut out the seedy bit in the middle which is just watery nonsense and adds no value.

Oh NWM. My little sister once cut up a chilli and then, horror of horrors, inserted a tampon. You have been warned.

busy then?

does this make up the other 18%? though, to be sure, the trousers, now they are being dyed, and the shoose are good. Good.

Yes I'm so glad the lady garden and chillies didn't feature.

On that theme my mate on a night of passion got Vick mixed up with Vaseline, and it had dire consequences that really cleared her sinuses.

are you going to have to change the button on the linen trousers? that would be enough to put me off the whole enterprise which, in all other respects, sounds fantastic.

I regularly stir-fry courgettes! What's wrong with that?
