Day 213: I Am A Bit Worried About Nijntje*
I bought an innocent comic-book this morning to send to my friend L (who is fond of Nijntje, despite being over the age of 45). However, I am not at all sure what to do with it, for hidden amongst 26 pages of colouring-in, spot-the-difference, number games and snap is this frankly shocking image. What in God's name is going on?

i saw a dick bruna exhibition in the museum of childhood in bethnal green at christmas. as much as I love him, he does seem to be a bit odd and paints all those uniform outlines with a very very fine paintbrush ... why, after fifty years, hasn't he bought a thicker one? or a felt tip pen?... or stuck miffy into illustrator like the rest of us lazy git illustrators would have done by now? but I didn't think he'd be into THIS kind of rabbit behaviour.

No no, they are! I think they're very funny. Was just a bit ... taken aback. That sort of thing.

They are obviously just getting dressed in the morning, and pulling down their sweet little bunny jumpers over their sweet chubby bunny midriffs, as they have more taste and discrimination that 10% of the British female population (which is, after all, not difficult) and some of the Dutch.
