Day 138: I Prepare For My Trip To Canada

Regular readers will be aware that I am Embarking Upon A Trip To The Colonies on Friday, from whence I shall blog in Weird French and be damned. As a result, I have Many Preparations to undertake.

Over the next few days, for example, I will be re-reading the Very Mysterious Guidelines offered by the Canadian Immigration Service ...

"As a visitor, you can bring certain goods into Canada for your own use as “personal baggage.” Personal baggage includes clothing, camping and sports equipment, cameras, tape recorders and personal computers. It also includes vehicles, private boats and aircraft."

... and acquainting myself with the Wildlife of the Canada using the internet and a pencil. Today it is Beavers. They mainly look like this:

I think I will like it there. The beavers smile and I can take my private boat on the aeroplane. Hooray!

Just don't make that age old mistake where you ask a lady to show you where the smiling beavers can be found.

That is a very very important thing to know before you arrive.

Oh how they will love your 'posh accent'.

I have invested 3 or so hours today reading NWM and feel the need to report the following -

my (equally) noisy and annoying neighbours now think they live next door to a loon who snorts uncontrollably and, worse, laughs out loud. "She lives alone, my goodness is she talking to herself?"

It was exactly like reading the past six months of my suddenly no longer working in marketing life. Except you've written about it and I've merely spent hours online.

Anyway, enough rambling and I will be back soon. As a reader, not as a verbose commentator.

Don't forget the electric outlet adapters. We use different type outlets/voltage over on this continent.
I agree with HHH, your writing is terrific. I laugh like a loon sometimes when reading your blog. This causes the canines to come check and make sure everything is okay. They just haven't figured out human behavior yet.

Welcome! Bienvenue ! ( put forward early, because I'm leaving town tomorrow for a week)

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time despite the fact there's a major political convention on this weekend. They'll be the lost-looking English speakers.

If you're in need of decent coffee, make the trip to 837 ave.Mont Royal Est to CafeArtJava. Best espresso in town.

They were supposed to open a second shop on the corner of University and President Kennedy, last month, but last time I looked it was still locked.

Still, make the trip. It's worth it, and the Plateau area is fun to roam around anyway.

Enjoy!
