I return from another night being danced in front of by a twelve year old on speed ("What do you mean he was in Blur? Who are Blur?"), and wearily peruse my inbox. My mood is suddenly lightened, for
Lee has sent a picture accompanied by the cryptic words: "I think I dated this guy". Further investigation reveals more; Lee tells me that her Photoshop skills "are to be feared and admired" (this much is true; she did something with a j-peg that rendered me speechless with admiration), adding only: "You should know that I am not author of this monkey. This guy is from Microsoft Word's clip art. We made t-shirts and we love him."
Who "we" are remains a mystery, but she chose her monkey well. He is indeed Splendid, and has therefore made it into Splendid Monkey Gallery.
Congrulations, Lee!

I haven't started dating clip art yet, but if I do, he's high up on the list.
I mean, look at the size of that banana.
Madam, that monkey has no tail.
Or else it only has a very small tail artfully hidden behind its banana.
Poor thing.
With a banana like that, he don't NEED no tail.
The tail could be curled into a tight spiral and thus invisible to the onlooker.
It is a splendid monkey, but with feet like that, I worry for his stability.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It certainly ain't Superman and I'm not sure that it's one of the family either. Is it a duck-billed platypus trying it on?
I like that monkey
MM honestly, look hard - he looks like Mike, especially around the mouth.
Loo, I like him too.
Anxious - what you said is right. In fact he has a 12ft long tail that is very thin. he winds it up and affixes it to his bottom with a pin.
Who is Mike? Whoever he is, he is surely no relation to us.
MM - the Husband of your Husband's Sister. You knows it.
I don't quite understand. Are you suggesting that we are related somehow? There is a slight similarity where build is concerned, but I've never seen him carrying a banana, only carving off pieces of Edam.
You fancy him. I've seen the way you look at him when Dad's not looking.
It must be the peggy teeth and the wrapover hair that draw me to him. And his shape, of course.
Incidentally, oh wise monkey, why do men think we won't notice they are going bald? And why do they think we care if they are? I say, much better to get out the clippers. Personally I rather like the Grant Mitchell look.
Splendid monkeys indeed, but I have an even more splendid monkey picture. Only problem is, I can't find how I send it to you and share it with the world? I can't work out how to put a jpeg into a comment like this - help!
"We" is "me". There's too many mes to fit into just one me, so it's we. I know, I'm confused too.
I'm glad you like my monkey.
MM - agree re hair.
Working Kitten hello and welcome. Email the monkey to me at lucy@spiffin.net. I am AGOG.
Lee - I like him very much, particularly as he looks like my uncle-by-marriage who my mother pretends she doesn't fancy. GOD HELP ME if they ever see this blog.
Oh, and Mist - if I start going out with Clipart, I'm going for the irritating knob screwing his face up with a "?" over his head, and chucking him for the smug twat with the lightbulb over his head. Then I will chuck them both and go out with the winking smiley on MSN. Wanna watch?
