Day 102: I Have A Spare Ticket For The Raconteurs At Brixton Academy Tonight

Anyone want it? Well, if you don't ask, you don't get. The spare ticket, that is. Or something.

That's funny. You think someone's actually going to admit to liking The Raconteurs. Ah, Non-Working Monkey, you crack me up.

You are very kind to offer, but I shan't be needing that ticket.

Indeed, if The Raconteurs were to play a one-off gig in my living room, I'd rather take my life in my hands and go to one of my local pubs (yes, even the one that always has a pool of blood outside in the morning) and stay there for however long it takes them to whine their way through their repertoire.

But thank you all the same.

You see this is why I never, ever write about music. (Books I don't care about. Music people shout about, and make judgements about you with.) I can think of Many people who would admit to liking them (I am not yet familiar with their work, but soon shall be), and Many who would not. Same with Radiohead, Kraftwerk, Talking Heads and Westlife.

The question is: is there a popular music artist who no-one can criticise? You know, who get an (at worst): "I don't like them but I respect them". That sort of thing.

Yeah, but none of those other bands have that Brendan Benson chap in, which is a big no-no for me. That said, I'm not judging, o pipe-smoking simian one. You have provided us all with so much fun that it really doesn't matter to me what music you like.

And I happen to know at least two people in blogland who do (unfathomably) like The Raconteurs. Maybe you will be another.

I too dislike.

Although would marry Meg White in a moment and listen to her toneless singing forever whilst trying to figure out if she was 'pretty or not'.

I properly forgot this time. I have things on my mind.

From my perspective the only outfit that may fit this criteria is Teenage Fanclub.

In 15 years I have never read a negative article about them.

Davenelli. An interesting claim.
TD - what's up, man?
* - you are kind. Is it OK if I like Keane, then?

I am very worried about the musical taste of you all. What's wrong with a nice bit of Vera Lynn, or our Cliff, or Neil Diamond? Billy Joel? Mariah Carey? Ooh, wait for it, I've just remembered: that lovely Celine Dion singing that lovely song fronm Titanic.

MM: you terrible tease!

Hmmm, Keane not so much, even though the singer is now in rehab cos he's so rock and/or roll.
